In 1987, IEM introduced a portable electronic wheel gauge (EWG) that quickly became the first, and still the only, AAR-accepted alternative to the standard wheel gauge. Since then, IEM has become the premier supplier of portable electronic measurement and inspection devices for the freight rail industry, with our recently improved and integrated Miniature Electronic Wheel Gauge, handheld Laser Wheel and Rail Profilometers, Wheel Diameter Gauge, and Handheld Wheel Flaw Detector.
