Key Features and Tasks

TAD’s multi-task, robotic manipulator arm, mounted to the mobile platform, has sufficient lifting power and reach to perform a variety of complex, dangerous car maintenance related tasks. TAD’s multi-level user interface allows operators to take both limited and complete control of TAD, implementing a low-latency communication system that transmits live-video from TAD to the operator.

TAD travels alongside a train and reads all AEI tags, assembling a list of cars and accompanying relevant data as a single or double -sided operation. TAD can detach cars from a train by operating the cut lever. TAD can patrol the yard in order to gather trash and recyclables. TAD can also bleed the brakes of designated cars; this involves locating the train, finding each car, and then locating the brake rod for each car and performing the bleed operation. TAD can recognize when an operation fails and repeats the operation at least once more before reporting the issue to operators.

Machine Learning Analytics

TAD arrives complete with a library of programs enabling it to complete a variety of tasks; this library is ever-expanding and allows for the customization of processes designed specifically for one trainyard.

TAD’s Machine Deep Learning capabilities allow it to navigate a variety of environments, ranging from asphalt to rocky and grassy fields. It navigates autonomously through GPS software by automatically detecting and assessing all obstacles around itself.
