IEM’s Solution to Railroad Security
America’s rail infrastructure consists of many facilities with poor, inadequate, or non-existent security. Tens of thousand miles of track; thousands of bridges, trestles, and tunnels; hundreds of passenger stations and rail yards; and countless trains hauling hazardous materials through urban and residential areas tax the ability of railroad companies and law enforcement agencies to maintain vigilant observance of activities.
IEM’s TranSentry™ represents the latest in integration of multiple sensor modalities with intelligent software. IEM customizes TranSentry™ for each installation site to accommodate its unique circumstances. Depending upon the needs of the application, TranSentry™ can incorporate smart-video surveillance that makes intelligent decisions about observed activities; fused visible/IR cameras that enhance the ability to interpret observed activities; advanced acoustic monitoring that identifies specific sound signatures and isolates their probable source direction; and integration of video and acoustic systems for the highest degree of accuracy.
TranSentry™ is based on IEM’s core, patented Smart Sensor Security System. When combined with IEM’s broad base of sensor systems, TranSentry™ detects, identifies, and tracks suspicious activities in visible light, infra-red, and acoustic modes; recognizes potential threats and dangerous situations; and alerts proper authorities only when necessary.
IEM has developed a suite of sensors that can be incorporated in TranSentry™ — including a 360° Situational Awareness Module, a unique multispectral synthetic field of view technology, one of a kind wide-angle thermal imaging, fused visible and thermal camera, highly sensitive acoustic sensors, and a wide array of other sensors capable of measuring a variety of phenomena. Additional sensors for other requirements, such as radiation detection and hazardous material recognition are being developed.
TranSentry™ is based on US Patent No. 7,355,508: System and Method for Monitoring an Area (Other Patents Pending)
