IEM already has developed, marketed, and sold wayside and in-ground inspection suites under our WISE® trademark to freight and transit rail systems around the world. Using laser-based 3D metrology, high-resolution imaging metrology, smart video scene and target understanding, infrared imaging systems, acoustic flaw sensors, and more, IEM’s WISE® suite of systems have shown that IEM is capable of designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining high-precision, rugged inspection systems that can measure objects passing by to an accuracy of fractions of a millimeter (better in more controlled circumstances).
Wheel or brake wear, component damage, internal bearing wear, all these and more are well within IEM’s experience, and would serve the military well for inspecting any form of vehicle or major components during maintenance. Such measurement, tracked over time, also permits Predictive Health Maintenance (PHM), drastically reducing maintenance costs; IEM already performs this type of data collection and analysis for major railroads around the world.
