IEM’s Wheel Impact Load Detector 2.0 (WILD 2.0TM) uses sets of
strain gauges in addition to triaxial accelerometers to
measure both lateral and vertical impacts as they are
applied to the rail. WILD 2.0TM detects High Impact Wheels,
Truck Hunting, Misaligned Wheels, Unbalanced Loads,
and Vehicle Weights.
By combining strain gauges and triaxial accelerometers in one self-contained and convenient
system, WILD 2.0TM can detect wheel faults and issues more accurately with a greater degree of
sensitivity. Each sensor is self-monitoring and redundance, allowing for “Graceful Degredation”
where the system automatically alerts personnel to sensor failures while remaining operational.
The WILD 2.0TM sensors are bolted to the base of the
rail, minimizing installation and eliminating the
need for drilling or welding.
